Zen Pet Spa does not accept puppies before 12 weeks of age and or before their second round of vaccines.
We understand you will be quite nervous about leaving your pup for the first time, however, puppies must be well-socialized and desensitized by the time they reach 6 months old.
Puppy Academy is 5 sessions weekly or bi-weekly (4 sessions for short hair breeds) and each of these sessions will focus on different aspects of grooming every time. Using modern handling and desensitization techniques will ensure your pup is not overwhelmed.
1st Session
The 30-minute session is a simple meet and greet, allowing your puppy to get to know us and start building a trusting bond. This includes a nail trim if needed, along with an introduction to some grooming tools and equipment.
2nd Session
During the 30-minute session, we will focus on handling, combing, brushing, ears, feet, small eye trim, nail trim, and bum trim.
3rd Session
The 30-minute session will focus on desensitizing your puppy to grooming tools, tubs, and dryers.
4th Session
The 90-minute session will include a relaxing bath, gentle blow-dry, and thorough brushing.
5th session: Graduation
If your puppy handles each aspect of grooming well, they will have a 5th session where they use everything they've learned for a relaxing first groom, graduating from Puppy Academy.
The full session takes around 2 hours.
Policies
Grooming Safety
If your pet becomes nervous, anxious, scared, aggressive, or overly playful, we slow down to ensure their comfort and calmness. Keeping pets safe and stress-free is our top priority. We use sharp tools, so it's crucial to prevent injuries. We'll work with your pet to help them feel comfortable, building a positive experience for successful grooming throughout their life. While your pet may not be groomed to perfection today, we will charge for the time spent working with them.
DROP-OFF AND PICK-UP
Drop-off and pick-up times are crucial since we work with pets individually. At drop-off, we'll give you a pick-up time that must be adhered to. If you prefer, we can come out to your car—just text us when you arrive.
Cancellations
Change your mind? Something came up?
We require a 48-hour notice to cancel/reschedule your appointment. There will be a 50-dollar fee for less than 48 hours.
Late Arrivals
If more than 15 minutes late to the appointment you will be turned away and a 50-dollar fee will apply.
No Shows
If no show on the day of the appointment full groom price will be charged.
