Why Cat Grooming Is Different
Cats are not small dogs. Their stress responses are entirely their own, and grooming a cat well requires a completely different approach, a different energy, and a different level of patience. A cat who feels rushed, restrained, or overwhelmed will shut down or escalate quickly. That is not a difficult cat. That is a cat who has not been handled with the understanding they deserve.
At Zen Pet Spa, our approach to cat grooming is rooted in the same Fear Free philosophy we bring to every animal in our care. We move slowly, read their cues, and never push past their comfort level. Every cat is assessed individually, and we accept bookings on a case by case basis to ensure we are always the right fit for your cat's needs.
Why Your Cat Needs Grooming
Many cat owners assume that because cats self groom, professional grooming is unnecessary. The truth is that regular professional grooming plays an important role in your cat's overall health and wellbeing. It reduces shedding, prevents knots, keeps skin and coat healthy, and allows us to assess your cat from nose to tail at every visit.
Long haired cats in particular benefit enormously from regular bathing and combing. A cat who is bathed and combed consistently does not need to be shaved. Knots, which is one of the most common and preventable issues we see, is almost entirely avoidable with a proper grooming routine. We recommend scheduling every 4-8 weeks to keep your cat's coat in its best condition.

Bridget has been growing her cat grooming skills over the past couple of years and brings a genuine curiosity and dedication to learning that shows in everything she does. She is currently working toward her Certified Feline Master Groomer certification, and her commitment to doing this right is exactly why our cat services are intentional, focused, and always improving.
